Raleigh, NC Custom Pool & Hardscape Project – Case Study

The Yelverton project from Bella Pools by Design Pools and Spas included all of the elements needed for large-scale outdoor entertainment in Raleigh, NC—a custom pool, patio, spa, gas firepit, and a covered pavilion-style pool house complete with built-in bar. Our first meeting with the client, their initial consultation, set the tone for this project. The client’s goals were to integrate all of these elements seamlessly with great flow and access to their property, especially their private basketball court. We custom-designed a simple yet elegant backyard layout that bridges the beautiful Yelverton home with the rest of their yard perfectly.

The custom pool we designed and built is a free-form style that’s both understated and stunning. The pool includes custom, hand-shaped travertine coping, a stone ledge for sitting, and a built-in spa that overflows a beautiful sheet waterfall right into the pool. Directly below the pool is a round, natural stone patio with a custom stone gas-powered fire pit integrated in the middle. It’s the perfect place to gather and relax on those crisp spring and fall evenings and well into the colder months.

The amazing custom pool house was built by Kirkwood Builders. It’s an open, pavilion-style pool house with a full roof, stone dormer, built-in bar, and plenty of space for shaded seating. Inside, striking exposed beams give the underside of the roof unique visual appeal. The natural light streaming through the dormer’s window brightens up the covered space in the daytime as well. Integrated lighting and an outdoor speaker system are just a few of the pool house’s amenities.

The entire custom pool, hardscape, and pool house is integrated with simple, elegant custom landscaping, tying the space together and accentuating the natural spaces created by the organic curves in the pool, walkway, and patio.
